How It Works
Every slider and toggle feeds into a real performance model. No guesswork — your choices change the numbers.
🔩
01
Pick Your Layout
Choose from 10 real cylinder configurations — Inline, V-angle, Flat Boxer, and W16. Each is rendered with accurate geometry and its correct factory firing order, animated live.
📐
02
Dial In Your Specs
Set displacement (1–10L), compression ratio, bore/stroke bias, and rev limit. Forged internals unlock higher boost. Each setting changes the output calculation in real time.
💨
03
Force Feed It
Go natural, single turbo, twin turbo, supercharged, or the full twin-turbo plus supercharger stack. Adjust boost PSI and intercooler efficiency — more boost means more heat and more power.

Hear It Run
Enable sound and hit Rev Engine to hear your build fire up — V8 rumble, turbo hiss, injector tick and all. The audio engine responds to your cylinder count, boost setup, and RPM in real time.

About the Interactive Engine Builder & Live Dyno Lab

Have you ever wondered what would happen if you strapped a massive twin-turbo setup onto a high-revving V10 engine, or exactly how much horsepower a classic carbureted V8 could push with an aggressive race cam? For car enthusiasts, gearheads, and engineering students alike, engine tuning is the ultimate blend of mechanical science and raw power. However, building and testing these combinations in real life costs tens of thousands of dollars and requires a massive workshop. Our free Interactive Engine Builder and Live Dyno Lab changes that. It allows you to become a master engine calibrator directly from your browser, giving you complete control over every single variable to build the internal combustion engine of your dreams and instantly test its limits on a virtual dynamometer.

How to Tune and Configure Your Custom Build

The Engine Builder is designed with realistic physics and thermodynamics in mind. Every slider you adjust dynamically alters the math behind the horsepower and torque curves.

  • Choose Your Cylinder Layout: Start by selecting your engine block. Choose from 10 distinct configurations, ranging from lightweight Inline-4s to perfectly balanced Flat-6 boxers, classic 90-degree V8s, or even the monstrous quad-bank W16.
  • Dial in the Short Block: Adjust the total engine displacement (from a tiny 1.0L up to a massive 10.0L), fine-tune the compression ratio, set the bore-to-stroke bias, and push the rev limiter to the absolute edge.
  • Aspiration and Forced Induction: Will you keep it Naturally Aspirated for linear power, or force-feed it with a Single Turbo, Twin Turbos, or a Supercharger? You can even adjust the exact boost pressure (PSI) and intercooler efficiency!
  • Fuel and Valvetrain: Switch between pump gas, premium, E85 ethanol, or racing methanol. Add an aggressive Stage 2 or Full Race camshaft, adjust valve lift, and upgrade to forged internals to prevent your engine from blowing up under high boost.

Experience the Live Virtual Dynamometer

Once your engine is built, it is time to hit the dyno. When you click "Dyno Pull," the simulator mathematically calculates your engine's volumetric efficiency, airflow, and combustion characteristics to generate a realistic Horsepower (HP) and Torque (TQ) curve across the entire RPM range. The center stage provides a live, top-down visualizer of your specific engine layout, complete with pistons firing in their exact, real-world firing order. You can even monitor live telemetry like coolant temperature, oil temperature, and Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP). Best of all? Click "Rev Engine" to actually hear your creation come to life, with dynamic audio that changes based on your cylinder count, turbo setup, and RPM!
