🧠 The False Spiral

This is known as the Fraser Spiral or the "twisted cord" illusion. Even though you see a spiral, your eyes are actually looking at a series of concentric circles.

The illusion is created by the "twisting" pattern of the line segments. Because the segments are tilted at an angle compared to the actual path of the circle, your brain's orientation-sensitive neurons are tricked into following the tilt inward, creating a perceived spiral path that doesn't exist!
