What Does the Percentile Mean?

Percentiles are the standard metric used by pediatricians to track growth. They compare an individual's measurements against a large national reference group of healthy children of the exact same age and sex.

If you fall in the 75th percentile for height, it means you are taller than 75% of peers your age, and 25% of peers are taller than you. The 50th percentile represents the exact median (the dead center of the bell curve).
