Do these two red lines look straight or bowed? Adjust the pattern density or turn off the background to see the truth!

Pattern Density

🧠 What's happening?

The two vertical red lines are perfectly straight and parallel. However, the radial pattern of the background tricks your brain into seeing them as bowed or curved outwards.

This is because your visual system overestimates the angles at the points where the radial lines and the vertical lines intersect. Your brain interprets the converging lines as 3D depth cues (like looking down a long hallway), causing it to distort the straight lines to "correct" for the perceived perspective!
