Why Timing Matters

A metronome is an essential tool for musicians, helping to internalize a steady sense of time. But it's not just for music-athletes, dancers, and even physical therapists use metronomes for pacing!

  • Drift-Free Audio: Standard web timers (like setInterval) are notoriously inaccurate for audio, causing the beat to drift. This tool uses the browser's native Web Audio API to schedule clicks perfectly ahead of time, ensuring professional studio-level accuracy.
  • The Downbeat: The first beat of a measure (the downbeat) is usually accented. In this tool, the downbeat flashes red and emits a higher-pitched "tick" to help you keep your place in the song.
  • Tap Tempo: Don't know the BPM of the song you're listening to? Just tap the "Tap Tempo" button in time with the music. The algorithm averages out your taps to find the exact BPM.
