The Physics of Fields

  • Direction: Magnetic field lines always flow OUT of a North pole (Red) and IN to a South pole (Blue).
  • Attraction & Repulsion: Notice how lines connect between North and South poles (attraction), but push away from each other when two like poles are near (repulsion).
  • Monopoles: We allow you to add isolated North or South poles. In real life, "magnetic monopoles" have never been discovered; cut a magnet in half, and you just get two smaller magnets!
