VO2 Max Calculator
Measure your cardiovascular fitness by estimating your maximum rate of oxygen consumption.
Understanding VO2 Max
VO2 max is considered the "gold standard" of cardiovascular fitness. It represents the maximum amount of oxygen your body can utilize during intense exercise. Higher numbers generally indicate a more efficient heart and lungs.
- The Cooper Test: Best for runners. You run as far as you can in exactly 12 minutes. The formula uses your distance to estimate oxygen capacity.
- The Rockport Test: Best for beginners or those who prefer low-impact exercise. You walk 1 mile as fast as possible and measure your heart rate at the finish line.
- Average Scores: For a 30-year-old male, an average score is around 40-44. Elite endurance athletes often score above 70 or 80!
